MONMOUTH FILM FESTIVAL

This December at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ, delve into the world of independent cinema at New Jersey’s newest Premier Film Festival! With over 14 hours of film, Monmouth Film Festival will feature independent films, narrative, documentary and student - short and feature length - from all over the state, country and across the globe. Featured films include documentaries “Swim Team” (2016) and “Jackson” (2016), narrative drama, “Colby” (2016), comedy “The Rainbow Kid” (2015), and horror/thriller, “Shortwave” (2016). 

Other events include our industry networking event (Friday, Dec 16th) where our partnered companies such as Backstage and iPitchtv will be represented by industry members including casting directors, agents and more! Also attend our Industry Film Panel (Saturday, Dec 17th), and awards ceremony (Sunday, Dec 18th at 7:30pm). Join us at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ.

SATURDAY, DEC 17TH:

Block #101 - Shorts Block A Time: Saturday Dec 17th. 11am - 1pm.

Block #102 - “Swim Team” Feature Documentary Time: Saturday Dec 17th. 1:15pm - 3:15pm.

Film Screening: “Swim Team” New Jersey Feature Documentary In New Jersey, the parents of one autistic boy take matters into their own hands. They form a competitive swim team, recruiting multiethnic autistic teens and training them with high expectations and zero pity. As they vie for state and national championships, what happens next alters the course of the boys' lives. Includes Filmmaker Q&A

Block #104 - “Colby” Feature Narrative Time: Saturday Dec 17th. 7:15pm - 9:00pm.

Film Screening: “Colby” New Jersey Feature Narrative Stranded in a small beach town, a troubled young drifter breaks into a wealthy home and cons her way into the good graces of the family that lives there. Includes Filmmaker Q&A. Also screening Trailers: “Saving Dreams”, “Book Of Nyx”.

Block #105 - “Shortwave” Feature Narrative Time: Saturday Dec 17th. 9:15pm - 11:15pm.

Film Screening: “Shortwave” - Feature Presentation Josh and Isabel Harris, after suffering the loss of their only child, relocate to a secluded hillside research facility with the hopes of repairing their broken family. After years of trying, Josh and his research partner, Thomas, have a breakthrough involving a cryptic shortwave radio signal and its universal origins. Something within the signal resonates with Isabel and she begins experiencing seeming hallucinations and visions of distant memories. Upon further investigation into the phenomenon, the scientists fear for Isabel’s health while Isabel fears the signal has attracted something sinister to their new home. Includes Filmmaker Q&A.

Film Screening: “The Rainbow Kid” - Feature Narrative Eugene, a young man with Down syndrome, sets out on a life altering journey to find the end of the rainbow.

Block #209 - “Jackson” Documentary Presentation Time: Sunday Dec 18th. 5:45pm - 7:15pm.

Film Screening: Jackson - Feature Documentary Set against the backdrop of the fight over the last abortion clinic in Mississippi, this film is an intimate, first-of-its-kind look inside the issues surrounding abortion through three women who stand on all sides of this debate and live at a turning point for reproductive healthcare in America.
